Hilljack is the product of eighteen years and five generations of balanced, sensible cattle bred for industry relevance and genetic predictability. A son of the prepotent Hook's Beacon, Hilljack's maternal pedigree is stacked for practicality, moderation, and structural integrity, tracing to a 3C Wally daughter purchased sight unseen from Leachman's Cattle Company in 2002. Hilljack is an elite EPD sire with 17 of the 18 measured traits ranking above breed average and 11 of those placing him within the top 10% of all active purebred Simmental sires. This kind of bull doesn't happen by accident, and he doesn't come along every day. We welcome your visit and your evaluation of Hilljack and the rest of the Martin Farms herd any time.
Knowledge is a moderate framed, big-ribbed son of Gibbs Essential with an exceptional EPD profile. His genomic projections place him in the top 30% of non-parent bulls for 16 traits, including top 1% indexes for $API and $TI. His young dam by Beacon is the kind a commercial cow herd should be built on--modest sized standing on good feet with impeccable udder quality. The first service of this exciting young sire will be available through the 2024 Seedstock Connection Sale September 28 in Nolensville, TN.
We're excited to introduce this young baldy sire purchased from one of the pioneers of the breed, Eichacker Simmental. We look for Lynchburg to stamp his calf crop with that trademark blaze face and a little extra eye appeal and at the same time, inject top end early growth to weaning while maintaining strong maternal and carcass qualities. Look for his service in the bred females from Martin Farms this fall on the 2024 Seedstock Connection Sale in Nolensville, TN.
Journey was our pick of the 2021 Triangle J Harvest Select Female Sale. A natural daughter of the powerful and prolific 2B donor, Journey has averaged 28 viable embryos on her first two flushes, and every ET calf from her #1 RightMatePlus mating to Global has been the right kind. Based on our evaluation of her first sons to sell this spring, this young female is a herd bull maker!

As one of the more anticipated females to sell during the 2022
sale season, Jolene was the popular crowd favorite and
high-selling lot of the 2022 Bred For Balance Sale from Clear
Springs Cattle Co. Her pedigree stacks two of the Simmental
breed's maternal powerhouses in 316A and 106Z, and her dam's
lineage of Top Grade x Dual Focus x Nichols Legacy adds a great
deal of confidence in this tremendous young female. Jolene's
first daughter, Lola, was the pick for All Beef and J&C
Simmental on the 2023 Seedstock Connection Sale, and her first
ET son by Gibbs Essential set the pace for growth performance
against his contemporaries at Martin Farms. The highly
anticipated 2024-25 calf crop will contain proof from matings to
LCDR Reserve, Schooley Krown, Bridle Bit Resource, and
Revolution.
After 50 years in the Simmental business, Juno was our pick of Stanley Martins' 2021 heifer calf crop. Juno is a polled, non-diluted, 100% Fleckvieh fullblood Simmental, and she begins our venture of producing commercially relevant, full Fleckvieh Fullbloods, offering our customers an opportunity to maximize heterosis or "hybrid vigor." We are equally excited about her homozygous polled daughters by the $51,500 Canadian sire, Fairview Evolution, and the highly proven ProStock Hugo.
We found Cassia as an open yearling on the 2020 edition of the Gibbs Farms Fall Production Sale. Chris was impressed with her on foot, not to mention her EPD profile and performance data. With top 1% predictions for WW, YW, and ADG, Cassia has matured into one of the most striking females in the Martin Farms herd. Long bodied and slick haired, her ET calves by Global and her natural heifer calf by Hilljack will highlight the 2024 Seedstock Connection Sale in Nolensville on September 28.
Bluebird represents the oldest remaining cow family in the Martin Farms program, tracing back to a 3/4 blood Galant daughter purchased in 1980 that we'd be hard pressed to fault when she retired at age 17. Bluebird is the result of six generations of breeding for performance and practicality. With no Shorthorn in the pedigree, Bluebird's dam and grandam were both blue roans, and we dig the hide color because it's what's on the inside that counts!

It’s hard to quantify the impact of such an influential female on one breeding program. Chris found a two-year-old first-calf-heifer at Scotty Burtner’s mature cow herd dispersal in 1990 and thought she looked like the kind that would make “the best cow we ever owned” someday. From that day on, XN9 was affectionately known as “Virginia” and she became the cornerstone to our homozygous black and polled Simmental and SimAngus breeding program. “Virginia” was an extremely fertile and productive purebred Simmental female that raised 15 natural calves with a lifetime weaning weight ratio of 102. Her signature was her consistency, and her longevity in our herd compounds the influence she will continue to have in our program through the daughters and granddaughters she left behind.
